The Faces Of New York City Team Handball Club
02-13-2012

These are the faces that make New York City Team Handball club The World's Handball Club.

New York City Team Handball Club was formed in 1973.  It was composed of immigrants, temporary workers of United Nation and anybody who wanted to practice and learn the sport. Our practices were held in the United Nation school gym.  Loyalty, enthusiasm and friendship allowed the club to survive, and later grow.

In 1992 the team moved to Brooklyn, and in 2007 we expanded to New York City.

We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 charitable organization. Our goal is to promote, educate, and introduce the Olympic sport of team handball to as many new people in New York.

Every year our teams compete in many tournaments around the country. In the past five years NYCTHC has become one of the most dominant teams in the nation.

In 2007 for the first time we won the Gold Medal at the US National Championship in Delaware.

In the 2009 US National Championships in Chicago, NYC defended the title by winning all six games.

During the Las Vegas US Nationals in 2010 New York City won bronze medal.

In 2011 US National Championship in Salt Lake City, NYC first mens team won it's thid National Championship in four years after going undefeated and beating Chicago Inter in the finals. .

New York City is all about different cultures living together, and New York City Team Handball Club is the epitome of what the city of New York represents. We have people joining from all over the world (Poland, Estonia, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosova, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Japan, Netherlands, Turkey, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Ukraine,  Egypt, Algeria, USA, Colombia, China, Israel, Sri Lanka), which helps us learn more about each others cultures. It’s a place where diversity rules.

NYC Team Handball Club practices every Tuesday and Saturday starting from mid-September to the last Tuesday in May, and last Saturday in June. We schedule competitions throughout the year. Our major tournaments begin after October.
