New York City Team Handball Club

The World's Handball Club. The most popular amateur handball club in the world. 4-time USA National Champions and 1-time Canada National Champions.

Dear Parents;

Below, please find our daily routines that we will be using to foster positive behaviors that students can incorporate into their daily lives.

  • Arrival and set-up: The assistant coach will arrive at the practice venue early to set up the necessary equipment such as balls, nets, cones, floor lines and other training aids. They will make sure that the playing surface is clean and safe for the players. If any of the student athletes arrives early, we will engage them in the process of helping to setup the playing field.

  • Warm-up: Once all of the student athletes arrive, one of the coaches will lead them through a warm-up routine that includes dynamic stretches and light exercises to prepare their bodies for the training session. This includes exercises such as jogging, high knees, heel flicks, side shuffles and many more.

  • Individual skills and drills: The coach then moves on to individual skills and drills, focusing on specific aspects of the game such as shooting, passing, dribbling, or defending. These drills are designed to challenge the players and help them improve their skills.

  • Team drills and tactics: After the individual skills and drills, coaches will lead the team through various team drills and tactics, focusing on improving teamwork, accountability and understanding of the game. This includes offensive and defensive drills, set plays and other tactical strategies.

  • Scrimmage or game simulation: To finish the practice session, the coach will organize a scrimmage or a game simulation that allows the players to apply the skills and tactics they have learned during the practice session. This will also help the players to get used to playing in a real-game situation.

  • Cool-down and stretching: Finally, the assistant coach will lead the team through a cool-down routine that includes static stretching and other exercises to help the players recover from the practice session and prevent injuries. We will recap the session and talk about next week’s plan.

Our goal is to prepare athlete students for real-life success through a structured and personalized training program that emphasizes punctuality, discipline, routine, daily learning, and physical and mental activity.

Sincerely,
Shkumbin Mustafa
